Ask Allah for Forgiveness
To begin, all praise and thanks are due to Allah, The Creator and Maintainer of the Heavens & Earth and all that exists.
Allah the Raheem (The Merciful) says, “Don’t they know that Allah accepts repentance from his slaves and accepts their saddiqa (charity), and without doubt Allah is the One who forgives and accepts repentance, the Most Merciful?” [Sura 9-Ayat 104]
The believers should rush to Forgiveness. Allah the Tawaab (Acceptor of Repentance) says, “…and ask forgiveness for your sins, and also for the believing men and women…” [Sura 47-Ayat 19]. This is a clear command to not only ask forgiveness for our sins but also for our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters. This shows the Love that Allah the Wadude (The Loving One) has for his slaves, in that he wants us to be forgiven because if we are forgiven then we enter Jannah (
One of the worst diseases of the heart is to think that we are sinless; Or, to think that we are too stained (with sin) to ask for forgiveness. In reality we would be DIRECTLY disobeying Allah by not asking for forgiveness as he commands us to do in the above ayat. Let us not have Kibr (Arrogance) and let the Shaytan fool us into NOT asking for forgiveness.
We all are sinners therefore as Believers we need to beg for forgiveness as Allah the Khaliq (Creator) says, “…O believers beg Allah to forgive you all…” [Sura 24-Ayat 31] So we must seek pardon from Allah. The Prophet (sws) said, “By Allah, I repent and seek the forgiveness of Allah more than 100 times per day (asking Allah to forgive him). [Muslim-4/2076]
The Messenger of Allah also said, “The master of all ways to ask for forgiveness is: Allahumma anta rubbi, La ilaha illah anta, khaliqa tanee, wa anna abduka wa anna alay ahdika wa wa dikka mastata tu, a’uothu bika min sharri ma sana tu, aboo uh laaka bini matika alayya, wa aboo laaka bithambee, fahgfeerlee fa’ innahu la yahgfeero athoonuba illa anta.” Whoever says this [with sincerity] as he/she begins the day or night will enter
In English: O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no God but you. You created me and I am your Slave Servant. I will stick to my promise [to be a faithful servant] to you with the best of my ability. I seek refuge in you from the evil I have done and I acknowledge your favors upon me. I also acknowledge to you, my sins. Thus forgive me because there is none who forgives sins except you.
So, how do we ask for forgiveness? We [believers] must research & ask those with proper knowledge of the religion how to ask for forgiveness [inshallah]. To end beautifully, Allah the Rahman (Compassionate) says, “…O my slaves who have transgressed against their own souls [by committing all kinds of sin]! Do not give up hope in the Mercy of Allah: indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Truly Allah is the Tawaab, Raheem!” [Sura 39-Ayat53]
